Last month, I was in Manhattan for a couple of meetings and visited the High Line for the very first time. Yes, I know, I can’t believe it was my first time there, either, given I used to work there for so many years.
It was beautiful, and I only saw a little of it. It was a bit weird being in this outdoor space filled with unusual trees and plants and then looking up to see skyscrapers.
How adorable is this art piece that doubles a planter? I didn’t realize how large the area was. There are really unique areas where plants are growing through the old train tracks.
After we strolled through the greenery, which there was still so much to explore. We stopped into the Drunken Horse for a happy hour. The wine bar is super cute, intimate and has a great selection of drinks.
Then we headed next door to The Red Cat, a restaurant in Chelsea. One of the best dinners I’ve had in Manhattan. Everything from the service, to the wine, to the meal was fab. I highly suggest checking this place out. It would make an impressive date spot, too!
We started out with this watermelon, arugula and goat cheese salad with a champagne vinaigrette. The combination of flavors were perfect, and it tasted just like summer. It was going off the menu soon, so I’m glad we got the chance to try it.
Next up was dinner, which I selected the crispy salmon over succotash . They were nice enough to take out the ingredients that didn’t fit with my food allergies, as well as take the skin off for me, because that usually grosses me out.
Again,t he combination of flavors along with the perfect cooked fish, made for a great meal.
What a perfect evening!
