These homemade, gluten-free jalapeño goat cheese turkey burgers are awesome. Not only can you taste the goat cheese after they are cooked, they are not overly spicy and have a mild overall flavor.
The cheese really helps lock in the juiciness. While the diced vegetables add a nice layer of flavor that’s complementary and not overpowering. Unless you add the seeds, the jalapeños do not make the turkey burger spicy. If you want it spicy, throw the seeds in with the peppers.
The burger recipe is gluten free and grain free, but if you’re not worried about that, you can serve them on a bun just like a regular burger, as you can see in the photos. Because of all my food sensitivities, I like to put them on a bed of lettuce and top them with tomatoes and sometimes a little mustard. But, my Dad likes them full throttle burger – fresh bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, melted cheese, ketchup and mustard. Either way, they are delicious.
When it comes to your grocery budget, this is pretty friendly, as ground turkey is usually decently prices, and minus the goat cheese, many of the other items you might already have in your fridge. Plus, you can serve four people, or if it’s just for you, you can get four meals out of it. Cook and eat one the night you prepare them, and then freeze the rest for later!
Jalapeño Goat Cheese Turkey Burgers
what I used …
1 pound ground white turkey
4 ounces fresh goat cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 jalapeño, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons parsley
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
how I did it …
Put all the ingredients in a bowl. Using your hands or a wooden spoon, mix well until everything is evenly mixed up.
Form into four patties.
Let them rest in the freezer for 3-5 minutes.
Place on a vegetable oil-sprayed grill until cooked, being careful not to overcook them. The meat should be pure white when they are done.
Dress with your favorite condiments, and enjoy!
